Thomas and Friends Train Walk

thomas the tank engine trainwalkRipplevale is again taking part in the Thomas and Friends train walk to raise money for the National Autistic Society.  The walk is taking place on Friday 9 July and the boys will be walking along the seafront from Walmer Bandstand to Walmer Castle and back again (with any luck the sun might be  shining!).

Last year we raised a fantastic amount and are hoping for a good result this time around!

Ripplevale recently participated in the inter-school cross country at the University of Kent at the Pavilion Grounds.  All boys did exceptionally well racing in their various age categories on a cold but clear day.

Notable performance included;
  • 3rd place finish from Scott Banks Year 4
  • 6th place Reece Friend Year 6
  • 6th place Bradley Hall Year 9
  • 5th place Lee Johnson Year 10/11
  • 6th place Aaron Mapp Year 11
All boys and staff had a really enjoyable day and now look forward to the forthcoming Sport relief Mile!

Rugby at Ripplevale

The boys at Ripplevale faced Castle Community School in a re-match of last year’s tense and dramatic encounter.  This eagerly anticipated match was as thrilling as the previous one, with the boys all competing well in a hard fought but fair contest.  With fantastic tackling, some good running with the ball, excellent scrummaging and superb team work the contest was closer than the 25 - 10 scoreline in favour of Castle suggests.  Despite having missed a number of training sessions due to adverse weather, the technical skills - individually and as a team - bode well for future matches.

Airfix Club

On behalf of our Airfix Club, I, Thomas Clay, have managed to build a Douglas TBD-1 Devastator dive/torpedo bomber. After featuring in Airfix the movie, it will be sold to the Chartham Air Museum (C.A.M) with the help of the special presentation of old flyers (S.P.O.O.F) and the Thomas Clay Classic Aircraft Trust (T.C.C.A.T). It will be exhibited along with the C.A.M’s new Sopwith triplane with the help of the Jacob Quinn Land Rover Trust (J.Q.L.R.T.).
